How do I enrol ?

Submit an enquiry form on which you will provide details about your query, contact information, days and times that are convenient for the lesson. We will then let you know some options based on your form info. When the class details are confirmed we will email an invoice. You can pay by card through the email or make alternative arrangements.

What age can my child learn music ?

Instrumental learning can happen from 6 or 7 depending on the instrument. Piano, ukulele, keyboard, tin whistle and bodhran are all appropriate for 6 year olds. Pre instrumental classes are offered for all ages. We have mini beats for 4 to 7 year olds and ‘Baby Beats’ class for 9 months to 36 months.

Do you teach adults ?

Yes, we teach adults and children.

Where do your classes take place ?

At our premises in Drumcondra. We are located in the basement of the ABC, 40 Drumcondra Road Lower, under Nelly’s cafe. Access the basement by the front courtyard.

How much do private lessons cost ?

Private lessons are charged per term. For 2023 a 15 week term of private 30 minute lessons cost €360 for children and €390 for adults.

How much do group lessons cost ?

Group lessons are charged per term. For 2023 a 15 week term of group 30 minute lessons cost €180 for children and €215 for adults.

How much do partner lessons cost ?

Partner lessons are charged per term. For 2023 a 15 week term of partner 30 minute lessons cost €230 for children and €250 for adults.

Can I pay by instalments ?

Yes, term fees can be paid in 1, 2 or 3 payments throughout the term. 1st payment before term starts, 2nd payment in late October and the 3rd payment in late November. Each additional payment incurs an administration fee of €8. Paying by 1 payment saves you money.

How can I pay ?

You can pay by card, cash or transfer. Card payments can be made through an email invoice after enrolment. Transfer details are on the invoices. Cash payments can be made by appointment.

How long is a lesson ?

Our standard lesson duration is 30 minutes but we will teach 45 and 60 minute lessons if requested.

When does the term start, and can I join anytime ?

Term 1 starts after summer, around the first week of September for 15 weeks, and term 2 starts after christmas when schools go back and run for 22 weeks.

Yes, you can join anytime during the term if we have availability of your request. The listed term fee will be reduced accordingly.

What is required for online tuition?

For online tuition, you will need:

An instrument for tuition and practice (except for voice, theory, songwriting and music technology tuition).
An internet-connected laptop, computer, tablet or smartphone. (A laptop or computer with a webcam and microphone is recommended, as it will have the largest picture.)
Ideally, internet speed at least 1.5Mb per second. (You can test your speed using Measurement Lab’s Speed Test.)
Headphones or earbuds, if possible.

Where can I park my car or bike ?

ABC car park is for staff cars only. There is on-street parking all around the block our building is located on. St Annes road, St Josephs Avenue and Alphonsus road. There are also parking bays outside the front of our building, on Drumcondra Road, mainly for short term parking.

There are bike racks outside on Drumcondra road beside the pedestrian crossing, also at the junction of St Annes road and Drumcondra road, and at the back of the ABC in the staff car park.

How can I get there by public transport ?

Tempo Music School is well served by public transport. There is a bus stop outside our building served by number 1, 11, 13, 33, 41 and 41C. Drumcondra railway station is next door to our building serving the Dublin Maynooth Longford Sligo line.

Do students need to have an instrument before starting lessons ?

Except for voice (singing), theory, musicianship and songwriting tuition, all students will need to have instruments at home for regular practice. And all in-school students – except those learning piano and drum kit, will need to bring their own instruments to the school for lessons or classes as well.
